M62 accident: ‘Chaos’ as M62 drivers trapped in sweltering heat after lorry crash

Motorists are trapped in their vehicles in 27 degree heat on the first day of the summer holidays as a crash involving three cars and a lorry shuts a major motorway. The crash happened close to West Park, Goole, and vehicles have been diverted via Selby. However, drivers who had already passed the diversion point have been trapped in their vehicles as emergency services raced to the foot of the Ouse Bridge where the crash had taken place. Drivers are still bumper to bumper as they wait for the road to be cleared, however, sweltering temperatures are causing discomfort among those trapped – although their main thoughts are with those involved in the accident. One said: “It’s boiling out here, thank goodness for air conditioning. It’s not what you want to be doing when it’s the summer holidays but what can you do? The crash happened at around 1.40pm (Image: Sean Stewart – Freelance) “It’s just one of those things. We’re currently crawling through Goole to hopefully get out around via South Cave.
