A vehicle fire has closed the westbound carriageway of the M62 near Goole. The section of the motorway that is no longer open to traffic is between Junction 35 (the M18 turn-off) and Junction 36 (the A614 Rawcliffe Road turn-off for Goole). Both sides of the road were initially closed after the incident happened at approximately 1.30am during the early hours of this morning, but the eastbound carriageway was reopened about half-an-hour later. The traffic data website Inrix is reporting that traffic is now queuing in the area. Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue are currently at the scene and National Highways Traffic Officers are assisting with traffic management. The following diversion has been put in place for westbound traffic: Exit the M62 at J36 and proceed to the end of the slip road. At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto A614 and proceed along this road for approximately 8 miles to the junction with the M18 Motorway (Junction 6). At the roundabout, take the 1st exit to join the M18 North and proceed along this road for approximately 5 miles to the M18/M62 Interchange (M18 Junction 7). At the Interchange take the left hand fork on to the link road to rejoin M62 West. We will bring you all the updates as we get them. Click here to get Hull headlines straight to your inbox.
