Main repair work on M62 Ouse Bridge set to be…

The main repair work on the M62 Ouse Bridge is expected to finally be completed in a few days' time. National Highways began work on the motorway bridge in March 2022 and it was originally due to be finished by autumn 2023. However, this was pushed back to spring 2024, and later until the end of summer this year, after it was revealed all eight joints across both carriageways needed replacing. It was hoped work would be finished by August, but the completion date was delayed again due to “poor summer weather. ” However, the end is now in sight with a return to the national speed limit in both directions by October 27. Although both east and westbound traffic will be without a hard shoulder until “early December,” the westbound speed limit has now been increased from 30mph to 50mph with two lanes open. Eastbound traffic will still remain at 30mph before increasing to 50mph by the middle of next week with two lanes then open. Both sides of the bridge are expected to return to the national speed limit by October 27 with three lanes open each way.
