Police arrested a man on suspicion of drink driving last night after a car careered off a roundabout and into a crash barrier near Goole. A witness said the driver of the silver Ford was lucky to have escaped without serious injury as there is a deep dyke on the other side of the crash barrier they collided with. A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene of road traffic collision which took place at approximately 8.30pm last night (Tuesday, November 23) off the Glews Hollow Roundabout on Rawcliffe Road. Police have confirmed that there were no other vehicles involved in the collision which left the silver Ford embedded in the crash barrier. Recovery firm Cosgroves were called to take the vehicle away at around 9pm on Tuesday night and the carriageway was cleared by 10pm that same evening. Witnesses said the front windscreen was completely smashed on the passenger side and there a child's car seat loose in the back of the car. They said it was lucky the crash barrier did its job as there is a deep dyke on the other side which could have seen the aftermath of the crash being much worse than it was.
