Man arrested for drink driving after Hull hit and run crash ‘wiped out’ BMW

A driver who fled the scene after “wiping out” another motorist after a horrific crash in Hull has been arrested by police. The crash happened at the Cottingham Road junction with Chanterlands Avenue just after 9pm on Friday. The victim of the crash described seeing the other driver run from the scene and claims he had been drinking. For the latest traffic news, click here. Humberside Police have now confirmed a man has been arrested. A spokeswoman said: “We were called shortly after 9pm on Friday, September 10 reporting a road traffic collision between a black Vauxhall Astra and a silver BMW at the junction of Chanterlands Avenue and Cottingham Road. “The driver of the BMW sustained minor injuries in the collision. “The driver of the Astra fled the scene of the collision and was later located and arrested on suspicion of driving while over the legal limit for alcohol or drugs. “He has now been released under investigation as our inquiries continue.” Car badly damaged after a crash at the junction of Cottingham Road and Chanterlands Avenue in Hull The BMW driver vented his anger after the crash but praised those who came to his aid. He said: “Well this dirty scumbag wiped me out last night then tried to drive off. “His car made it down the road and then he got out and ran off not knowing if he had killed someone or if there were children in the car etc. “Four amazing people (two of them nurses) managed to pull me free and drag me out of the passenger side door. “The fire brigade were amazed I was able to walk away from it with
