Man lucky to walk away after ‘scumbag’ drink driver crashed into him

A driver says he is lucky to walk away after being “wiped out” by who he claims was a drink driver. The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, was driving along at the Cottingham Road junction with Chanterlands Avenue when the crash happened just after 9pm on Friday. The driver claims the man in the other car ran from the scene but was later reportedly arrested by Humberside Police He claimed: “Well this dirty scumbag wiped me out last night then tried to drive off. Car badly damaged after a crash at the junction of Cottingham Road and Chanterlands Avenue in Hull “His car made it down the road and then he got out and ran off not knowing if he had killed someone or if there were children in the car etc.” He has also praised passers-by and the emergency services who rushed to his aid. The man said: “Four amazing people (two of them nurses) managed to pull me free and drag me out of the passenger side door. “The fire brigade were amazed I was able to walk away from it without serious injuries.” The man has a message to the other driver, who he claims was over the drink drive limit.
