There are miles of delays on the A63 this morning as it remains closed to westbound traffic between the A15 North Ferriby junction and the A1304 South Cave after a serious collision last night. This morning, Highways England have confirmed that the eastbound carriageway has now reopened (as of 7.30am) but the westbound diversion remains in place. There is some residual traffic on the eastbound route approaching the North Ferriby junction but the worst of the traffic remains heading west toward the A15 junction with tailbacks reported up to St Andrews Quay. There were reports of a vehicle fire outside a petrol station on the route at 10.20pm last night and emergency services were quickly on the scene. Traffic on the westbound carriageway this morning (Image: Diane Bellis) This morning the A63 westbound remains closed between the A15 (near North Ferriby) and the A1034 (near South Cave) due to the serious collision. Westbound traffic is being diverted via the hollow square diversion symbol: Exit the A63 using Western Interchange and take the A15 Continue on the A15 for approx. 1 mile to the roundabout with the A164 At the roundabout, take the first exit on to the A164 Continue on the A164 for approx. 7 miles to the junction with the A1079 At the junction, turn left and merge with the A1079 and continue for approx. 10 miles At the roundabout, take the first exit on to the A1034 and continue for approx. 7 miles Rejoin the A63 westbound at the South Cave Junction The closure is also affecting traffic on the Humber Bridge with delays heading north. Humber Bridge News posted on Twitter: “Please note heavy traffic Northbound on the bridge this morning.” Delays on the westbound carriageway of the A63 from the A15 junction back up Clive Sullivan way are estimated to be between 30 and 40 minutes on most traffic services.
