Northern is reminding customers that its on-board WiFi service restricts access to dating apps and websites. Passengers across the North of England will be unable to search for their ideal match during their commute, but the train operator insists there's a valid reason behind this. The Friendly WiFi scheme, which Northern's on-board WiFi operates under, blocks certain types of content, including those related to dating. Access to video streaming, gambling, alcohol, adult content and nudity-related websites and apps are also restricted on-board, along with software updates and file sharing services. The Friendly WiFi scheme ensures that Northern's on-board internet service adheres to minimum filtering standards, considering children could be on board.
