Misery for Hull commuters as long-running Beverley Road works delayed…

There is no end in sight for long-running works in Beverley Road, central Hull, after completion of a regeneration project was delayed for a third time. Motorists have faced many months of delays along the major commuter route, where work on the previously dangerous and unstable Brunswick Arcade has been ongoing since October 2021. Demolition was completed in spring last year and reconstruction work was due to be completed during the winter of 2022. But Hull City Council now appears unwilling to commit to a firm timescale for when the project will be completed. In the meantime, a busy stretch of Beverley Road remains reduced to one lane in each direction. The council would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused and an update on the project will be issued in due course.” In September last year, the work was paused in order to avoid major congestion, due to unrelated work by a utilities company in Beverley Road. Then in April this year, the council blamed a further delay on difficulties in the supply chain and obtaining materials. At that point, it was hoped that the work would be finished during the summer. The work in Beverley Road is being carried out in the hope that historic Brunswick Arcade can be brought back into full economic use.
