Humberside Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist who was involved in a road traffic collision on the A63 last night has sadly passed away. They're appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place at 9:30pm on Thursday, June 24, which saw the busy road closed in both directions overnight. Read more: Rush hour collision between lorry and bus forces busy Hull city centre junction to close The crash happened near the A1166 Brighton Street at St Andrew's Quay, where it is believed that a white motorcycle left the road and collided with signs at the roadside. The incident has tragically been confirmed as fatal for the rider this morning and the family are being supported by specially trained Humberside Police officers. Traffic on the A63 Clive Sullivan Way last night (Image: Joe McAllister) A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses to a reported road traffic collision which occurred on the A63 Eastbound Carriageway, Hull, at 9:30pm on Thursday 24 June 2021. “A motorcycle is believed to have left the road and collided with highway signage. “Sadly, the collision was fatal. “Our thoughts are with the motorcyclist’s family at this difficult time and they are being supported by specially trained officers. “We are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the white motorcycle travelling towards the A63, or who may have dash cam footage, to call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 580 of 24 June 2021.” Shortly after the collision a witness said he saw emergency services parked on the westbound carriageway, although the accident had happened on the eastbound side. Another witness said there had been “loads of ambulance and police” at the scene. Both reported having been in standstill traffic for over an hour. An update posted at 11.09pm by traffic information site Inrix said traffic was stretching back to the Mytongate roundabout, with the road still closed.
