Main Road is closed from the Howden end at the A614 roundabout as the leak is investigated by Northern Gas Network. The B1230 is closed at the Howden end near the A614 roundabout (Image: Sean Stewart) Local residents say the incident began around 3pm but the road wasn't closed until closer to 5pm today (Thursday 1 July). It is not known at this time where the exact location of the leak is or what has caused a leak so major that the road needed to be closed. Local reaction was partly thankful that it wasn't another crash that had caused the closure.
