New £4.6m roundabout to improve heavily congested A63 junction near…

A junction that's been infuriating motorists before they join the A63 will be improved after plans for a £4.6 million roundabout was given the green light. East Riding of Yorkshire Council plans to build a large roundabout with traffic lights to replace the current busy junction where Welton Low Road, Welton Road, and Water Lane connect, with the latter two roads then joining the A63. The scheme is designed to improve the capacity of the junction by around 25% and significantly reduce queues, especially during rush hour. It will include traffic signals, with queue detection equipment and computer control to cope with traffic flows, particularly to and from the Hull direction. Construction of the scheme is expected to begin in spring 2023, subject to bidding from contractors, with some advance work and minor site clearance due to be carried out in the new year.
