An angry road user says a new cycle lane in west Hull is “an accident waiting to happen”. Duncan Peddie supports the provision of cycle lanes in the city, but claims a newly-installed lane at the junction of Hessle Road and Priory Way is “dangerous”. The new cycle lane has been painted by the council on the Hessle Road dual carriageway and means cyclists will have to go into the middle of the road to make way for left turning traffic – with a speed limit of 40mph. It is part of a new scheme by Hull City Council for safer cycling measures on Hessle Road to “improve existing cycle lane infrastructure between Brighton Street and Priory Park roundabout”.
