Residents in the area are being warned about the dangers of using 'bogus' taxi drivers as the busy Christmas period looms. East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced its plans to keep residents safe, which includes all East Riding vehicles now having new and updated CCTV systems. These cover all of the internal of the vehicle and a forward fitting dashcam, as well as an audio recording facility that can be activated by passengers or drivers should anyone feel at risk. Customers are being urged to only use legally licensed taxis, as during Christmas time, the council sees an increase in bogus vehicles purporting to be lawful taxi services. The drivers and vehicles have not been checked or vetted, often being illegally offered through social media. All licensed drivers will have an ID badge issued by the council.
