‘Our street was dug up with no notice and it…
Residents in a Hull street were left furious after contractors dug up their road ‘without a letter or a note’ to warn them. Julie and Phil Bainton, who live on The Groves, off Hessle Road, noticed contractors marking yellow lines outside of their property last Thursday morning (May 11). They thought it was strange and had no idea what it could be for, but assumed they would be told in the coming days. However, they say that at 8am on Friday morning, vans and a digger rounded the corner into their cul-de-sac and began digging up the road within the hour. Residents rushed out to ask what they should do about their cars, as nobody had posted a letter about the works or knocked on the door, and were told contractors were installing cables on behalf of Hull Fibre and would be there all weekend. Now we’re struggling to get off the drive because the roadworks are being done right outside of our property.” For the Baintons, the lack of access and noise pollution came at a particularly bad time. The drilling had been going on since 8am and it was far too noisy to have guests over.” Other neighbours echoed the same viewpoints. They agreed the contractors from MS3 were being as accommodating as possible, but the lack of communication left them infuriated. One woman said: “I’ve never even heard of Hull Fibre and haven’t had a letter or note. It’s been a bit of an inconvenience and it would have been nice to kn
