Papa’s Roundabout roadworks end date pushed back again due to…

Two major roundabout improvement schemes in East Yorkshire have been delayed yet again, with the council citing an “exceptionally wet” winter. In December, East Riding of Yorkshire Council told Hull Live that bad weather meant the roadworks at Papa's roundabout in Willerby would not be completed until March 2024. It seems this has not improved, because now it's not expected to finish until April. The building of a new roundabout at the A63 / Welton Road, Brough, to improve traffic has also been delayed by rainfall over the autumn and winter months, which the authority said had made working conditions very difficult. East Riding of Yorkshire Council said both projects will now be delayed by two to three months but work will still be carried out on each site. One user wrote: “Amazing how they think undertaking work IN THE WINTER won't be affected by the poor weather. It's almost like they don't know it is cold, wet, windy and has the potential to snow between November and March.” Someone else commented: “Bad weather, do the work in summer then.” A 3D image of the plans at the Willerby junction, known locally as Papa's Roundabout (Image: ERYC) A164 Willerby roundabout scheme The £1.9m scheme at the existing A164/ B1332 roundabout started in September last year and was originally due to be completed in February 2024.
