Police release statement as resident speaks of shock after car flips on roof in Hessle Road crash

Hessle Road residents had a rude awakening this morning following a car crash which left a vehicle on its roof. The black-coloured Ford Mondeo was found on its roof in the middle of the road this morning and the road was closed for around three hours after residents say they heard a “tyre popping” noise. Humberside Police have said that the driver of the vehicle received minor injuries following the crash close to the Shell garage in Hessle Road at around 9.15am on Sunday morning. One resident, who lives above the Golden Treasure Chinese takeaway outlet, said: “I came outside and I just said ‘oh my god my car’. It had been shunted down the road. My other car was parked next to it, but luckily it wasn’t hit. The crash happened in Hessle Road at 9.15am “It’s shocking, I couldn’t believe it when I came downstairs because I had woken up and was just getting my breakfast ready. It sounded like a tyre popping or exploding.” David Stephenson, 46, another Hessle Road resident, said he was shocked to see the overturned car while out on his mobility scooter this morning.
