Recap as M62 Ouse Bridge closed westbound after ‘bad crash’

A major East Yorkshire motorway was shut for 30 minutes following a crash between a car and lorry. Traffic was held on the M62 westbound at the turn-off for Howden – just before the Ouse Bridge – on Thursday afternoon. Emergency services attended the scene and traffic officers held the vehicles for half an hour following an accident between a car and lorry. Humberside said a woman and a teenager suffered what is thought to be minor injuries. At the time of the crash, one motorist posted on Facebook: “Avoid the area, M62 is shut at the river ouse. It’s just happened, avoid it.” Another said: “Just a warning for anyone heading westbound on M62 bad accident at Howden bridge.” A Humberside Police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services are currently on the M62 westbound carriageway near Howden following a collision involving a lorry and a car.
