The safety of the A63 has been called into question by councillors and road users, with one particular cause being flagged by many. The issue of standing water is a recurring theme among drivers, who say the poor drainage has led to dangerous conditions on the road. Humberside Police and National Highways often alert road users to the problem as the road is notorious for crashes. Residents took to the Hull Traffic and Travel group on Saturday morning to notify others of standing water on the road after heavy rain overnight. The westbound lane near St Andrew’s Quay appeared to be affected the most. Particularly westbound near St Andrew’s Quay. Be careful.” Although the warnings may feel repetitive, others agreed the post was not boring, but necessary and change needed to happen. Driver Marcia Taylor wrote: “It really needs the drainage sorting out, it gets really bad heading towards Brough, and in particular where the two petrol stations are opposite each other, it doesn’t drain away!!” Prior to this post, many had agreed that flooding was a root cause of safety problems when a proposition to change
