There were road closures in Hull city centre after a man climbed on the roof of a hotel earlier today. A 48-year-old man was arrested after leaving the roof at around 10:35am and the cordon has since been lifted. Earlier, most of Ferensway was closed in both directions, while Anlaby Road was also closed between Midland Street and Anne Street/South Street. Traffic reporting service Inrix said: “A1079 Ferensway in both directions closed due to police incident from Mytongate to A165 Freetown Way.” Meanwhile, at around 6am Humberside Police said: “Please be aware of road closures that are in place due to an ongoing police incident.” 11:56 Sofie Jackson Police statement – man on roof of hotel arrested Humberside Police said in a statement: “A man is currently in our custody following an incident on Anlaby Road this morning (Wednesday, 2 April). “Officers were called to reports of concern for safety of a man believed to have taken to a roof after allegedly attempting to force entry into a man’s hotel room shortly after 5am. “Emergency services were deployed, and a 48-year-old man remained on the roof until around 10.35am. He has since been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and remains in police custody whilst enquiries continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Following enquiries so far, we can confirm the two men are believed to be known to each other. “A cordon was in place and roads were closed at the time to allow emergency services to bring the incident to a safe conclusion, and we can confirm Anlaby Road, Ferensway, and Osbourne Street have now reopened. “We would like to thank members of the public for their patience whilst we dealt with the incident.” Share 11:32 Sofie Jackson Inrix update – incident cleared Traffic reporting service Inrix has published an update: “A1079 Ferensway in both directions re-opened, traffic easing, police incident over between Mytongate and Margaret Moxon Way.
