Search for ‘Good Samaritan’ Hull man who rescued woman from…
A woman is searching for the heroic Hull man who pulled her out of the wreckage of a car when she believed she was about to die. Christine Spires, 64, and her husband, 70, were driving on a back road near Coningsby at 3am on Tuesday, February 11, when their car hit surface water and aquaplaned. It ended up in a ditch and Christine suffered severe crush injuries. Terrified Christine was trapped and the air filled with powder that looked like smoke, although she later learned it was from the airbags. Photographs of the car taken after the crash show the extent of the carnage. Christine told Hull Live: “It was scary. It was really frightening. We both were trapped. I panicked because all I could see was smoke and I didn't realise it was the air bags going off. I thought I was going to die. “I rang the emergency services and they said they were on their way. All of a sudden, this man appeared on the side of the road. I was screaming, I was, I thought we needed to get out of the car. Emergency services managed to rescue Christine's husband from the wreckage “He smashed the back windows and released the car door because my husband was trapped and couldn't get out. This man, even though I'm quite a heavy woman, he pulled me out of the car and put me in his van."
