Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident on the B1230 near Newport at around 9.10pm, with the air ambulance called to attend. It is believed there is at least one casualty with serious injuries although these are not thought to be life-threatening. Main Road was closed in both directions as a result of the two-vehicle crash which happened between the M62 junction for North Cave and Thimblehall Lane, between Newport and Gilberdyke. The westbound carriageway has since reopened and the eastbound carriageway is expected to reopen at about 11.30pm. The stretch has a 60mph speed limit for the most part until drivers are asked to cut their speed to 30mph when approaching Newport village. Traffic is reportedly moving well in the area despite the closure. Sharing an update, a Humberside Police spokesman said: “Emergency services are in attendance at a serious road traffic collision on the B1230 between Gilberdyke and Newport. “The road is currently closed in both directions.” Any updates will appear below.
