Six swearing, swerving and shoddy Hull drivers caught on camera
2020-03-08 11:52:00
These clips could well show some of the worst driving we have seen caught on dashcam in Hull and East Yorkshire and shared by Hull Live so far in 2020. It includes the moment a driver tried to “beat the traffic” along Hull's Anlaby Road. Another shows the moment another motorist does something that is said to be “typical for Hull” on Hedon Road. The videos, shown below, were posted onto the Hull Road Share: Improving Our Standards Together Facebook page and have all been shared by Hull Live so far this year – although it is not clear exactly when they were filmed. 1. Audacious manoeuvre on one of Hull's busiest streets branded 'risky' This is the moment a driver made a “risky” move on a busy Hull road. The video, shown above, was filmed in James Reckitt Avenue. The clip has been shared online (Image: Hull Road Share: Improving Our Standards Together) “Was this overtake really worth the risk?” the member said when they sent it in to the page. The page admin, Dean, shared his thoughts on the clip too. “Narrow bridge ahead and cars coming the other way,” he said. “Pathetic driving.” Others were also keen to share their thoughts. Another driver said: “What was the point in that? Idiot.” Another sarcastically wrote: “Yes, the k*** must get in front what ever the risk. Personally, I won’t risk it, I’d set off a few minutes earlier.” While one simply said: “B******.” Dean also commented: “Not to mention the car must have started this pass right on the junction. Totally brainless… How do these people get licences?” 2. Moment Fiat 500 driver pulls 'stupid' move on Hull road This is the moment a Fiat 500 driver pulls a “stupid” move on a Hull road. The video, shown above, was posted in the Hull Road Share: Improving Our Standards Together Facebook page. Dean, the man behind the Facebook page, posted the video of the incident in Hull city centre and shared what the member said when they sent it in. “Close up of a Fiat 500,” they said. Surely without the good actions of the cam car this would have been a smash?” But one had a dig at the dashcam driver. “Yes I can see the Fiat pull out and shouldn't have but I won't slow down or stop, I'll just carry on going,” they said. They then added: “After rewatching the footage, the Fiat maybe didn't see the cam car as the old toilet block would have blocked their view.” One of the replies said: “That's no excuse. If your view is blocked then you edge out slowly. Not just pull out and hope for the best.” 3. Driver does something 'typical for Hull' on Hedon Road This is the moment a driver does something that is said to be “typical for Hull” on Hedon Road. The video was posted in the Hull Road Share: Improving Our Standards Together Facebook page. Dean, the man behind the Facebook page, posted the video and shared what the member said when they sent it in. Dean then shared his own thoughts on the footage which was posted on social media. “They were not traveling quickly so not sure why they felt the need to head to the outside lane straight away,” he said. One said: “Hazards to say sorry.” Another wrote: “The hazards were to thank you for letting them in.” But one said: “Not panicking. The flashing hazards are the standard way of saying thank you for 'letting them in'. Fully intended to do that dangerous maneuver and then were cheeky to you.” Another said: “Clearly looked and just thought, f*** you.” 4. 'Unbelievable sheep mentality' by drivers on Beverley Road This dashcam footage shows the moment “lemmings” ran a red light along Hull's Beverley Road. Dean quoted what the member had said when they sent the clip in. “Dangerous and the lemmings that follow,” he said. Dean then shared his own thoughts. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in8Cancel Play now “Wow!” he said. “If ever a clip showed sheep mentality, this is it.” Others also commented on the clip. One said: “Happens a lot at that junction. They see the green light for them to turn right onto Sutton Road from Beverley Road and go. They also see the green light for the crossing and go then!” Another said: “I use this junction daily and the amount of people you see try and set off when the filter light comes on. I’ve never seen anyone just go for it though, they all break, realising it’s still red for them. “In this video, the lights were still on red when the two cars went through the lights so they wasn’t even confused by the filter light coming on. At least the third car woke up and realised the lights was still red.” While on simply wrote: “Unbelievable.” 5. Moment 'lazy' driver almost hits cyclist on pedestrian crossing This is the moment a driver almost “takes out” a cyclist on a Calvert Lane zebra crossing. Dean posted the video of the near-miss in west Hull and shared what the member said when they sent it in. “This driver nearly took out a cyclist,” they said. “Although maybe it shouldn’t be riding across a zebra crossing but the driver has no excuse. The pedestrian hadn’t even finished crossing.” Dean also shared his thoughts on the footage. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in8Cancel Play now “The cycle looked hidden behind the car's door pillar,” he said. “Drivers, move your lazy heads! “Yes, cyclist could have slowed and made sure he was seen by the driver or walked across. We could argue the cyclist shouldn't be cycling, but would that have made a difference? “Lots of things we can all do around crossings to keep everyone safe.” He then wrote in the comments: “Doesn't look like the car really wanted to stop for anyone to be honest.” 6. Horrifying moment driver 'makes up own rules' on A63 This dashcam footage shows the moment a driver “makes up their own rules” on the A63. Dean quoted what the member said when they sent the clip in. “A63 going towards Hessle Road and noticed a vehicle trying to turn right towards ice arena,” they said. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in8Cancel Play now Commenting on the post, one wrote: “What a plank.” Another said: “Trying their best to cause a major rtc!” While one wrote: “Seen it loads on there somehow people don't realise is straight only.” And one said: “Making up their own rules.” Do you have any dashcam footage you would like to share?
