‘Sorry officer, I thought you wanted to race’ – Illegal Hull takeaway driver’s cheeky message to police

A takeaway driver was caught speeding in a quiet residential street while out delivering food in Hull. The driver was caught by police twice over the speed limit on Saturday night. When stopped by police, they noticed a sticker on his car which reads: “Sorry officer, I thought you wanted to race”. For the latest crime news click here. A post on the Humberside Police – Hull Facebook page said: “Officers saw a vehicle doing approximately 45mph in a residential area with a 20mph limit. The rear of vehicle was adorned with the words “‘Sorry officer, I thought you wanted to race’ #AskingForTrouble “The driver then got out of the vehicle and proceeded to deliver a takeaway while receiving payment without the valid insurance in place for the carriage of goods for hire and reward. “A further 13 receipts for prior deliveries were found in the car and so the driver was dealt with for driving without the valid insurance cover #ExpensiveDelivery.” The post went on to say that having no insurance can have very serious consequences.
