Motorists are warned of further delays across Hull's road network as essential gas work starts on Spring Bank West on Monday. Northern Gas Network has announced it will start its last phase of upgrades on the main Hull road which will see the bus lane close. An earlier phase of the works caused serious disruption before a partial closure was lifted in May this year and now drivers on the route are set to suffer once again. The work will start on Monday October 18, and will see the closure of the bus lane and some of the footpath between the railway bridge and Tile Giant. The company say the work will future proof the gas network in the area for another 100 years. The project involves replacing old metallic mains along Spring Bank West with more durable plastic pipes, to minimise future disruption and futureproof the network for another 100 years. The works will run from Tile Giant to the railway bridge (Image: Google) This final section of work is expected to take seven weeks to complete with the works starting at number 720 on Spring Bank West and finishing outside Tile Giant. The majority of work is being carried out in the footpath, however the company said it will be necessary to close the bus lane along this section for the safety of workforce, pedestrians and motorists.
