Stagecoach refuses to go to Hull park and ride as stones are hurled at buses

A bus passenger has been left angry after Stagecoach bus drivers refused to pick her up or drop her off at Priory Park and Ride because of antisocial behaviour. The woman, who does not want to be named, says on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, she dropped her car off at the park and ride but was forced to walk to Henry Boot Way to get picked up by the bus. She has also been dropped off there rather than at Priory Park and Ride. Drivers told her this was because of gangs hurling stones at the buses and children jumping on and off the buses without paying. The council is taking action to remove the group of travellers (Image: Pete Harbour) Stagecoach has confirmed it will not operate in the area “for the safety” of their staff and passengers. The site, which is close to Sainsbury’s and Homebase in Hessle, has around 650 spaces and is a popular spot with travellers who have used it on a number of occasions in the past and have now pitched up again, less than a month since their last visit. It is not known if it is children living on the site who are responsible. She said: “Stagecoach buses won’t go onto the park and ride at Priory Park because they are scared after having rocks thrown at the buses and having kids messing about from there jumping on and off the buses. “So now passengers, including myself, are having to walk to Henry Boot Way to get picked up, as well as being dropped off there and having to walk. “It’s terrible that a proper bus service isn’t running because of this and it also portrays Hull in a very bad light.
