Storm Brendan: 45mph winds to batter Hull as weather warning issued

Weather warnings have been put in place across the UK as forecasters caution against winds hammering Britain’s coastal areas. Although Monday saw a dry start gusts will strengthen in the morning and throughout the day as the storm moves in from the west. Hull will avoid the worst of the storm but winds will still reach as high as 45mph around 7pm. The storm will also see bands of heavy rain move eastwards hitting the city during the afternoon and into the evening. The Republic of Ireland will be most affected by the storm – but gusts of up to 80mph could hit the western half of
