A road sign in an East Yorkshire village has left many motorists perplexed. The sign in Preston has sparked a debate on Hull Live’s traffic and travel Facebook page. The picture posted by Graham Dobson shows a 40mph sign – all straightforward – but below this is a circular sign that looks blank except for five thin black lines going diagonally across it. Such a sign indicates the end of certain restrictions, but it is usually accompanied some other wording or picture. However, it appears the sign is blank, which has left motorists confused. If anyone can enlighten me I would be really grateful.” There was speculation it related to the end of a certain speed restriction – either there was a slower speed restriction or the 40mph limit was no longer in force. The sign on its own can signify the end of a speed restriction. But many believe the confusion lies in the fact the picture accompanying the sign – at the junction of Wyton and Lelley roads – has since faded.
