The owner of a rural cottage has spoken of his horror after finding a driver bleeding heavily in his garden after a fatal cash involving a cyclist. Police said the cyclist died after his bike was hit by a Nissan Juke which had veered onto the wrong side of the road. Read more: At least 14 Hull pubs forced to close on Sunday Bleeding heavily, the driver was lucky to survive the crash, which happened on the A1033 between Patrington and Ottringham at around 9pm on Saturday evening. The elderly owner of a nearby cottage, who did not wish to be named, said he had been fast asleep in a room at the back of his house when he woke up to make himself a cup of tea. He told Hull Live the driver was “bleeding, badly injured and only narrowly avoided hitting a large tree”. The car came to a stop just metres from the cottage's front door. Humberside Police confirmed a male cyclist tragically died at the scene, while the driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving over the legal limit.
