Five new homes are set to be built on the site of a disused swimming pool in an East Riding village following the approval of plans. East Riding Council’s Eastern Area Planning Sub-Committee unanimously approved plans for the homes, in Main Street, Beeford, near Skipsea. Applicants Fretwell’s Planning and Development Ltd stated to councillors the homes would be served by a new dedicated drainage tank, avoiding pressure on the village’ main system. But the parish council claimed the access to the house would be next to a blind bend, posing a traffic risk, while existing drainage systems would not be able to cope. Plans for the homes showed they would be built where the disused swimming pool next to Manor House now stands. An office building and barn are also set to be torn down as part of the development. Planning documents stated the five homes would have three bedrooms each. The application stated they would respect the character of the surrounding area. Beeford Parish Council claimed the homes could fuel traffic problems They stated: “The site lies within an accessible and sustainable location within easy walking distance of the services and facilities of Beeford. The site is also close to available public transport links with bus services within easy walking distance, there are clear public benefits to the scheme through the provision of family homes in a sustainable location.” Beeford P
