Traffic is backing up in Cottingham this afternoon after a crash near Castle Hill Hospital. Police officers and fire crews descended on Castle Road just before 3pm close to the junction with Willerby Low Road. One black and one white car appeared to have been involved, with both vehicles suffering significant damage to their front ends. Witnesses said the incident had caused traffic to back up along Castle Road towards the hospital and along Southwood Road in the opposite direction. One woman, who came upon the crash while driving home, said it appeared as though it was only the two vehicles involved and that emergency service workers were pushing the damaged white car off Castle Road and towards Willerby Low Road to clear the street. Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue have been approached for comment.
