A teenage driver has died in a crash on a road in East Riding. Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision on the B1249 which runs between Driffield and Skipsea at around 10.40pm on Monday. The driver, who was just 18-years-old, sadly died in the accident after the Renault Megane Scenic left the road near North Frodingham Church. Read more: Tributes pour in for woman killed after being hit by car in Hull city centre There were also four passengers in the vehicle – two suffered minor injuries which required hospital treatment, while the other two were not injured. The force urge anybody who was in the area at that time or motorists who have any dash cam footage to contact them. Police accident investigators were on the scene this morning as efforts continued to try to establish how the car crashed. Local diversions were in place as machinery was brought in to recover the car which appeared to have left the road on a sharp bend following a small bridge. The road remained closed off this morning near North Frodingham Church In their appeal Humberside Police said: “Shortly before 11pm on Monday 30 August 2021 a blue Renault Megane Scenic left the B1249 road, between Froddingham and Driffield, at Brigham. “The driver, aged just 18, sadly died in the collision. Four passengers were also in the vehicle, two suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment, two were not injured. “Our thoughts are with the young man’s family and friends as they come to terms with their loss. The accident investigation continued throughout last night and this morning “We are appealing for anyone who was driving in the area at the time that may have dash cam footage. We would also appeal for anyone who saw the collision or the vehicle prior to the collision, as it drove from Froddingham towards Driffield, to call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 557 of 30 August 2021.” Last night, accident investigation work began at the scene, causing multiple road closures. Police urge anybody who witnessed the accident to come forward with information According to an update posted by the AA at 10.42pm Brigham Lane and Cruckley Lane were closed off, as well as the B1249 Brigham Straight, Church Lane and Howes Lane, to allow emergency services to attend.
