They are frustrating for motorists, but necessary to keep our roads up to scratch and traffic flowing freely once the work is done. There are long term roadworks ongoing in and around the city, but there are also shorter term ones planned. Here is your definitive list of all the ongoing and upcoming roadworks in the area, as announced by Hull City Council. A63 – St James Street to Market Place: Major A63 improvement scheme – full infrastructure change. Lane and road closures until completion of scheme, expected Spring 2026. A63 Castle Street: A series of overnight closures for the A63 Castle Street scheme. Weeknights only (8pm-6am).
