The route for the Hull Street Race 2020 has been revealed

The route for the city’s second annual electric car street race has been revealed. Roads around the centre will be closed on Sunday May 3 as drivers competing in the Greenpower Hull Street Race 2020 navigate the circuit which runs across the city centre. Vehicles are currently in the process of being designed and built by aspiring young engineers and drivers, some of whom will be taking their first steps towards a potential career in the motorsport industry. The street race will be split into three separate categories encompassing teams of ages between nine and 11, 11 to 16 and 16 to 25. The IET F24 and 24+ track, which sees young people aged between 11 and 25 competing for glory, will begin outside the Guildhall in Alfred Gelder Street. Hundreds of youngsters will compete in the race The route then takes participants round to Queen’s Gardens, which also plays host to the event’s Inspiration Zone with STEM themed activities for spectators , before approaching the pit lane and facilities at Lowgate, where teams will swap drivers or make car adjustments. Finally competitors will end up back at the Guildhall after conquering the circuit style track. Meanwhile, Hull College will be hosting the Goblins’ Arena where students as young as nine will race in a series of timed events before taking to the main track for a ‘Lap of Champions’.
