The suspension-wrecking roundabout everyone in Hull is begging to be fixed

Sutton Fields Roundabout, where Holwell Road meets Sutton Road, is a cause for much upset among the city’s motorists who have branded it “awful” and described the damage it has done to their cars. One driver told Hull Live that the popular junction was “wrecking people’s cars”, although Hull City Council say they are set to take action as part of a new road improvement scheme. The roundabout has multiple, deep grooves running along it that drivers believe could be damaging their vehicles, as well as several potholes. But now drivers say enough is enough. “It’s awful. Just bloody wrecking people’s cars,” one motorist said, commenting on Hull Live’s Traffic and Travel Facebook page. A second, in an appeal directly to the council, said: “On behalf of anyone that drives around this roundabout everyday and hears there suspension bang and twang whilst going over all the massive gaps please fix this dangerous roundabout.” Motorists are begging the council for a fix (Image: Peter Harbour) Others have described the junction, which is close to the Sutton Fields pub, the Whistling Goose and Aldi, as sounding like their car had a “puncture” and branding it a “suspension wrecker”. Another sarcastically put comment said: “It’s a beautiful roundabout. Slides like a dream.
