Traffic through main road is now quieter for long-suffering residents thanks to £1.1m scheme

The £1.1m project on the main road through Howden has taken six months to complete. Nearly a full, continuous mile-long of road surface has been replaced through the town between the start of Pinfold Street and Hull Road’s junction with Hull Road Avenue. The newly-laid surface is more durable and is designed to reduce the tyre noise of traffic. Footpaths along the same stretch of road were also resurfaced. Cllr Mike Stathers, the council’s portfolio holder for enhancing communities, said: “This was a large-scale scheme on a busy road and I would like to thank motorists, residents and businesses for their patience while the work was
