A group of travellers have been spotted setting up camp in a beauty sport near to Beverley in the latest case of an unauthorised encampment in the area. Humberside Police have been made aware of the group and admins on a local Facebook group have pleaded with residents to let officers do their job. The group arrived at around 6.30pm yesterday and began moving their vehicles onto the grassy areas of the pasture which is owned by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Visitors to the park were said to be leaving the area quickly when the group arrived (Image: Submitted) Travelling groups have been moving around Hull and the East Yorkshire area throughout the summer and have moved on from their camps when called to do so through the official process. A post by the admins of a local Facebook group said: “We are aware of reports of Travellers parking up on the Westwood. The Police are aware. “Please don’t approach them and allow the police to do their job. If they are on private land then it is the landowner's responsibility and the Government has advised that when Gypsies or travellers are not causing a nuisance, the site should not be disturbed.
