Travellers have pitched up for the third time in a week – this time at a popular Hull park and playing fields. Three caravans and accompanying vehicles have set up on Oak Road Playing Fields. The area is usually a popular dog walking spot where many like to let their dogs run free, while often kids will come to play. It is also a popular fishing spot for keen anglers. However today it is home to thee white caravans who have set up near the entrance to the park. Outside of their mobile homes are what appears to be luggage and deck chairs. Travellers have pitched up on Oak Road Playing Fields (Image: Hull Live) It comes as a wave of travellers have arrived in Hull over the last week. A small group of white and grey caravans, as well as a 4×4 truck, parked up near to Porsche Centre Hull last Friday. It was understood that as a result of their arrival, staff moved vehicles on display outdoors into the showroom. On Tuesday, “Up to a 30” vehicles were parked up in a field off Preston Road. The caravans were seen parked in rows on land where council houses were demolished ahead of a proposed new housing development. Plans for a new traveller stopping place in Hull were approved by Hull City Council earlier this year in attempts of tackling the issue. With an estimated cost of £4.2m, the existing traveller site off Bedford Street would be extended and a temporary stopping place built on land accessed from Mount Pleasant. it is hoped that the new 17-pitch stopping place will dramatically reduce the number of illegal encampments on both publ
