Travellers who endured holiday delay nightmare will get compensation but…

East Yorkshire holidaymakers who suffered a nightmare start to their trips after three planes suffered technical faults have been compensated – but anger remains. Wendy and Mark Wilson, of, Thorngumbald, got in touch with Hull Live after their trip to Corfu turned into a farce. They were due to fly from Leeds Bradford to the Greek island at 3.05pm on Friday, July 14. They boarded the plane at 2.40pm, only to be asked to disembark an hour later, because of a technical fault. After several hours they were told the flight had been cancelled and then at 9pm were told they were going to Manchester, first by plane, then by coach. Eventually they were put up in a Leeds hotel at 10pm. As soon as they returned, Wendy was straight on to TUI seeking compensation for the delays. While initially struggling to get anywhere she eventually got through by going direct to the compensation department rather than through customer services. Wendy and Mark Wilson, of Thorngumbald, suffered three cancelled flights and a 30-hour delay trying to get to Corfu Wendy said: “I would urge other passengers to submit an online claim too. I did get an email saying it had been rejected but I emailed the compensation department directly about it and they suddenly processed it.” But not everyone is happy with how the process has gone. Linden Jenkins was also on the same flight to Corfu but, despite also being set to receive £700 compensation, she remains unhappy. She told Hull Live: “My partner and I were also one of the many passengers herded around like cattle with no customer service whatsoever from TUI who, frankly, were diabolical. “I had been trying to claim the delay compensation they are legally obliged to pay but I kept hitting a brick wall. This holiday was a very much deserved break for myself and my partner because I sadly lost my mum at the end of March and I am so angry and upset at TUI because of their appalling behaviour.” She has since been promised the £700 but feels the process is being made unnecessarily difficult. She said:” I received the link from TUI requesting my bank details and an acknowledgement saying it can take up to 14 days for
