West Hull road to remain closed for days after water…

A road in west Hull will remain closed for some time after it had to be dug up due to a burst water pipe. Fairfax Avenue, off Bricknell Avenue, is completely shut and is likely to remain closed into next week following the burst which happened at around 8am on Monday morning. Although the pipe was fixed later on Monday, the road needs filling in and resurfacing. The burst pipe left a number of homes in the area with no water or very low pressure. It also forced nearby Bricknell Primary School to close on Monday. Senior staff took the decision to close due to health and safety reasons. A spokesperson said: “We know that roadworks can be frustrating for our customers. The pipe that burst on Fairfax Road was fixed yesterday and we’re working closely with Hull City Council’s highways team to carry out a backfill and reinstatement of the road surface. “It is a concrete composite road and therefore the fix takes more time than usual because it needs to be drilled, dowelled and the concrete given time to cure.
