A clip shared online of an incident involving a bus driver and cyclist is stirring up debate. It comes after a bus driver was outed on social media for this clip, shown above. The video was shared on the Driving in Hull – Hull Road Share Facebook page after being sent in by a cyclist. After Hull Live shared the footage on Facebook, readers were keen to have their say too. “The bike was already going through,” one said. “The car and van were already there, overtaking the parked cars. the bus driver should've seen all this and waited until the van passed and stayed behind the cyclist, the other vehicles on the other should then wait for bus and bike to pass on this side. “However the bike could have slowed down before almost getting squashed by the bus.” Another wrote: “Bus driver should have waited, he saw the van and his judgement was wrong . That could have been nasty and the cyclist is lucky he was not knocked off his bike.” A third said: “Hazard awareness on behalf of the bus driver is shocking. Vehicles on his side of the road yet he continues to overtake the cyclist when there are cars blocking his way. Not great. Cyclist must be more aware too though.” But, once again, not everyone could agree. “Cyclist seem to think that they should never stop for anything, they should also read the road ahead,” one wrote. Another added: “The cyclist may have been in the bus drivers blind spot so may not even have seen them. The cyclist should have stopped and pulled back a bit…” A third continued: “When I went around on a bike, I paid attention to what was going on in front of me, and if I observed that a vehicle was pretty close and the gap in front was narrowing, I stopped and waited. “Cyclists just don't have common sense anymore, sadly, almost wanting to create an accident.” The video has been shared on social media (Image: Driving In Hull – Hull Road Share) While a fourth said: “Everyone is at fault. Both the bus and cyclist should have seen what was ahead and happening read the road accordingly. “You're not telling me that the cyclist did not know the bus was overtaking and react accordingly.” People were also keen to have their say on the original post too.
