Wincolmlee reopening date confirmed as ‘complex repair’ nears completion
A date has been announced for the expected reopening of Wincolmlee after it was closed earlier this month for “complex” gas repair works. Bank Side and Wincolmlee are commonly used by motorists travelling between the city centre and Clough Road area but the route has been blighted by issues over the years, often resulting in lengthy road closures. Since early in the New Year, Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has been carrying out essential repair work on the gas network resulting in an ongoing road closure on Wincolmlee. It has now confirmed that the road is expected to reopen on Tuesday, January 30. Site manager for NGN, Gerry Hart, said: “This has been a complex repair due to a number of factors including the size of the pipe and location under the road. However, the repair work is now complete and a reinstatement team is in the process of backfilling the excavation and returning the road to normal.
