Woman thanks police who saved her from being ‘trapped in Goole’

A woman who posted a message of thanks to two police officers who saved her from being 'trapped' in Goole has attracted an amusing response from locals. The lady from Huddersfield took to a local Facebook group to thank the Humberside Police officers who offered assistance when she got lost in the town on the M62 diversion. Read more: Goole blue plaque nod to first female quarry boss and inventor The stretch of motorway between Goole and Howden had been closed following the discovery of an unexploded WW2 bomb at Beal Homes' new site on Rawcliffe Road. Despite following the signs for the diversion that took her through Goole, the woman found that she wasn't able to rejoin the motorway and feared being 'trapped' in the town for good. The M62 was closed between Goole and Howden while the bomb disposal team did their work (Image: Sean Stewart) She wrote: “Can I please thank the two young police officers I chased after, who were locking gates at West Park in Goole at about 10.15 last night [23 July], one looked similar to Craig off Coronation Street. “[They helped] me when I didn't know where I was or where to go after the motorway diversion sent me into Goole but the diversion back onto the motorway was also closed. “After going around in circles in the area, I'm not from the area and [my] sat nav kept trying to send me back to the motorway and my fuel was on red by this point. “I finally got back to Huddersfield after your help. Thank you. I seriously thought I'd just have to live in Goole for the rest of my days.” Numerous road closures were put in place after the discovery of the bomb, including the M62 between Howden and Goole, and a no-fly zone was enforced.
