Woman’s desperate fight to save man’s life after north Hull crash

A woman has spoken of her desperate attempts to save a man's life following a serious crash, involving a car and motorcycle, in north Hull. The woman and her friend held the man's hand as they waited anxiously for the ambulance and paramedics to arrive at the scene in Ellerburn Avenue. She said: “It took ages and he was gasping for breath and had shallow breathing. To read live updates on this story, click here “I wasn’t leaving him, I sat with him all the way through and kept talking to him. “The most frustrating part was waiting for the ambulance, but he did so well and took every last breath.” She said she rushed out of her house in a dressing gown when she heard the “big bang” of the crash, which occurred shortly before 1pm on Sunday. Orchard Park Road in north Hull remains closed in both directions, as do 30th Avenue and a long stretch of Ellerburn Avenue. A Humberside Police spokeswoman said: “The incident is on the corner of Ellerburn Avenue where it meets Orchard Park Road. “It is a motorbike and a car and the road is closed still at the moment.” Posting in the Hull Traffic & Travel Facebook group, one witness to the crash site said: “Never seen so many cop cars for one accident. They'll all be there for different reasons, witness ect.” “It looks bad let's hope for a good outcome not nice to see for anyone, hope all concerned will be OK,” wrote a third. Debris from both the car and bike involved in the crash had been scattered across Ellerburn Avenue.
