Work to start on major £6m Priory Way scheme which will add an extra lane and take a year to complete

A £6m road-widening scheme on Priory Way in west Hull will start later this month. The busy route connects the A63 with Hessle High Road and provides access to adjacent business parks on both Priory Park East and West. It also includes the main access route to a Sainsbury's supermarket and Homebase store as well as the Priory Park park and ride shuttle bus service. For the latest transport news click here. During the works, the existing highway will be widened to increase capacity for additional traffic expected to be generated by new development schemes earmarked at four remaining vacant sites on Priory Park East. Expected to take just over a year to complete, the project is being carried out by Jackson Civils on behalf of Hull City Council. Initially, works will take place off the main carriageway with contractors' vehicles accessing the site from the Sainsbury's car park. The Priory Park park and ride site in west Hull When complete, it will feature an additional northbound lane between Saxon Way and Sainsbury Way and a dedicated right-turn into Henry Boot Way; an extra southbound lane approaching the junction of Sainsbury Way and a dedicated right-turn lane into Sainsbury Way and an additional southbound lane between Henry Boot Way and Saxon Way with a dedicated right-turn lane into Saxon Way. There will also be a new shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists, new traffic islands to create safer crossing points and improved traffic signals and pedestrian crossings.
