A section of the A63 has been closed due to “flooding” on Friday. Clive Sullivan Way was shut westbound between the St Andrew's Quay exit and the A15 junction through much of the morning. Significant traffic congestion was being reported due to the closure with witnesses reporting “a lot of standing water” following overnight downpours. The eastbound carriageway heading towards Hull was not affected. National Highways said clearance work was being carried out to prevent further flooding with more rainfall expected later today. It said: The westbound carriageway is closed due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall in the early hours of this morning. Humberside Fire Service attended the scene to assist with pumping out surface water. They have now left the site. The gulleys and drains are currently being cleared in preparation for the further heavy rainfall forecast to occur later today, with the aim of preventing further closures. There is currently no ETA on reopening the westbound carriageway. National Highways is currently expecting normal traffic conditions “between 10.45am and 11am”. National Highways is reporting that normal traffic conditions are “expected between 9.15am and 9.30am”.
