Drivers urged to avoid eastbound A63 due to ‘ongoing incident’

Drivers were being advised to avoid the eastbound A63 earlier this morning due to an “ongoing incident”. A blockage on the road due to a “broken down vehicle” resulted in lengthy tailbacks from around 6.30am, peaking between 8am and 9am. Before then, Humberside Police issued a statement saying: “Road users, please be aware of an ongoing incident on the A63 Eastbound, at the junction of Ferensway. Please avoid the area where possible. Thank you.” The blockage was cleared before 9am with traffic reported to have returned to normal a short while after. 09:23 Mark Page Traffic back to normal Traffic has now returned to normal. Share 08:52 Sofie Jackson Traffic remains slow, reports Inrix In an update at 8:46am, the traffic reporting service Inrix sid: “Long delays due to earlier debris on the road on A63 Clive Sullivan Way Eastbound at A1166 Brighton Street (St Andrews Quay). Congestion to Back past Hessle on the A63 and very slow traffic on routes through Hessle towards the City Centre. “Delays are not helped by the earlier broken down vehicle further along.” Share 08:23 Mark Page Blockage reportedly cleared The blockage on the road has now reportedly been cleared but long delays are continuing due to the existing backlog of traffic. Congestion is still being reported as far back as Hessle and it remains “very slow” on other routes towards the city centre. It is “also heavy on Anlaby Road towards the city centre”.
