The roadworks happening in Hull that motorists should know about

(Image: PA) They are frustrating for motorists, but necessary to keep our roads up to scratch and traffic flowing freely once the work is done. There are long term roadworks ongoing in and around the city. There are also shorter term ones planned. Here is your definitive list of all the ongoing and upcoming roadworks in the area, as announced by Hull City Council. They include the start of a two-month closure of Drypool Bridge which begins on Monday and is expected to continue until November. A63 improvement scheme: Major A63 Improvement scheme – full infrastructure change. Lane and road closures until completion of scheme. Until Spring 2026. Anlaby Park Road North: New water supply outside number 120. Two-way signals in place. September 16 – September 22. Beverley Road: Carriageway reconstruction. Northbound carriageway 80m south of the junction with Evergreen Drive. Road closure is expected to be in place overnight on Monday 8th / Tuesday 9th September between the hours of 7pm and 6am. Chanterlands Avenue: Rectify reinstatement defects at the junction of Perth Street West. Multi-way signals in place. September 14. Drypool Bridge: Full bridge closure to facilitate major repair and strengthening works. (A road closure between Lowgate and Clarence Street will also be in place to facilitate major District Heating network installation. These works have been coordinated with the closure of Drypool Bridge to avoid future disruption). September 15 – Late November 2025. Guildhall Road: Public realm works, including paving, surfacing, drainage, retaining walls and ducting within Queens Gardens and along Guildhall Road, Wilberforce Drive and Queens Dock Avenue. Lane closure on Guildhall Road. Until October 31. Hessle Road: Rectify reinstatement defects. Multi-way signals in place …
