Hull Daily Mail Icon News Hull & East Yorkshire News East Riding of Yorkshire Council The authority is offering free weekend parking in the run-up to Christmas once again Free parking will again be offered at weekends in the East Riding in the run-up to Christmas. The council has been scrapping parking charges on Saturdays and Sundays in the weeks before the big day for the past 17 years. It will do so once again for 2025 in a bid to support high streets in the region. Free parking will apply to all on-street and off-street parking locations operated by East Riding Of Yorkshire Council from 8am on Saturday until 8am on Monday on the weekends starting November 29, December 6, December 13 and December 20. There will also be free parking available to support Remembrance Sunday events on Sunday, November 9. Meanwhile, the second weekend of free parking in the run-up to Christmas will coincide with Small Business Saturday, a national campaign that encourages people to shop locally and support small businesses in their communities. Councillor Anne Handley, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “We’re proud to support our high streets across the region, at a key time for businesses. Free weekend parking is a great incentive to shop locally, and we encourage residents to support their local high street.” Legal notices will be displayed in all locations to advise motorists there is no charge on the weekends listed. A council spokesperson added: “While parking charges are suspended, motorists are advised that normal parking rules still apply, such as those around disabled parking bays, maximum stays and controlled parking zones (CPZ).” Find an East Riding council-operated car park here.
