The junction, which also connects to Brighton Street, is in “urgent” need of resurfacing, Hull City Council has said. A “phased road closure” will be in place over a “maximum of five nights” next week, weather permitting, to complete the work. The project will see the damaged road surface removed with a new one laid to “improve grip and skid resistance”. The resurfacing works will also help National Highways “who need to use the area for an upcoming diversion”. The council says the work will ensure this “is safe and reliable for all users”. The project, which is being carried out by PBS Construction, is set to begin on Monday, November 10 and continue each weeknight until it is completed. The phased road closures will be in place between 7pm and 6am each night. A signposted diversion route will be in place that is “distinctly separate from those for the ongoing A63 Castle Street improvements”. Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “Improving the condition of our road network is one of our key priorities, to ensure all carriageways remain safe and reliable for all users. This scheme builds on the improvements already made to the other two roundabouts on Brighton Street, helping to ensure a reliable route for road users. “In addition, the work will also help assist National Highways, who need to use the area for a diversion.
